The Tournament quest in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is initiated by Gyoji in Yamato. After assassinating several Shinbakufu members, Gyoji will appear outside their hideout, inviting you to the tournament. This hidden arena is located at Ominesanji Temple in southeastern Yamato. For easy access, synchronize the Ominesanji Overlook viewpoint west of the temple to create a fast travel point.

Speak to Gyoji at Ominesanji Temple to begin. He explains the tournament's format: four one-on-one duels followed by a final champion fight. Ring the bell to start the first duel.

Completing the Tournament

The Tournament presents a series of intense duels. Thankfully, you can rest between fights; ring the bell to begin the next one. Use this time to heal with rations and upgrade your weapons and armor as needed.

For optimal performance, equip a long katana as Yasuke and master dodging and parrying. This will leave opponents vulnerable to attacks. Utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback when your adrenaline is sufficient. Knowing your opponents' weapons is advantageous. Here's a breakdown:

  • Lady Masago: Naginata
  • Lord Suguru: Katana
  • Lord Hokuto: Kanabo
  • Lady O-Sen: Two Poison Katana and ranged items
  • Lord Unkai: Naginata (heals if you distance yourself).

After the final duel, speak with Gyoji again. He'll reward you, and the "Test Your Might" trophy should unlock during this interaction.

Best Loadout and Skills

A high-level Long Katana is your best weapon. Upgrade it at the blacksmith, adding engravings that boost armor damage or piercing. Armor is crucial. The Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend (obtained by defeating The Ox) and the Protector's Armor (from completing a castle) are ideal. The Daimyo Armor's engraving increases damage by 75% but reduces health to 25%; the Protector's Armor allows parrying unblockable attacks. Combining these provides significant advantages.

Maximize your skill points in the Long Katana and Samurai skill trees. Focus on Combat Expert for increased melee damage and unlock Power Dash and Payback.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
