Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Director Open to Switch 2 Release

The director of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has expressed interest in a potential release on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Following the game's successful launch, Sandfall Interactive is exploring new opportunities, including the possibility of porting the game to the next generation of Nintendo's popular handheld console.

Says It "Could Be Interesting"

In an interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche discussed the studio's plans following their impressive launch. He acknowledged the game's success, stating, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything."

When questioned about a potential Switch 2 release, Broche indicated that the team is currently overwhelmed with opportunities and is carefully considering their next steps. "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting," he explained.

Given the anticipated launch of the Switch 2, it's exciting to consider that the top-rated game of the year so far might also be available on Nintendo's newest handheld console. Fans will need to stay tuned to see if they can experience the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on this new platform.

No Official Merchandise…Yet!

With the game's success, Sandfall Interactive is receiving numerous requests and opportunities. One such request is for an official plush of the beloved character, Esquie. However, the studio has yet to produce any official merchandise and has warned fans about counterfeit products circulating online. In a Twitter (X) post on May 14, they stated, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."

They further cautioned that many of these bootleg items feature AI-generated artwork, which Sandfall strongly advises against purchasing due to the potential for scams. However, they are actively working on creating official Esquie plushies.

"But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"

The enthusiasm for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to grow, and fans can look forward to official merchandise in the near future.
