Civilization 7 DLC Rumors Reignite
Firaxis Games, the developers behind Civilization VII, have hinted at the potential return of Mahatma Gandhi as a DLC leader. While not initially included in the base game's roster, the possibility remains open. This article delves into the reasons behind Gandhi's absence and the outlook for his future inclusion.
Civilization VII Developers Consider Past Civilizations and Leaders for Future DLC
Hope Remains for Gandhi's Return
In a February 13, 2025 IGN interview, lead designer Ed Beach addressed the absence of several familiar civilizations and leaders, including Gandhi. He confirmed that these omissions weren't due to oversight, but rather a necessary decision to make room for new and exciting additions. Beach stated that Firaxis is considering the broader picture and hasn't forgotten about past favorites. The possibility of Gandhi's return, likely as DLC, remains very real.
The decision to exclude prominent civilizations like Great Britain and India stemmed from the sheer number of popular choices. To ensure a fresh and engaging experience, some familiar faces had to be left out initially. However, Beach reassured fans that Firaxis is actively evaluating the potential reintroduction of these leaders and civilizations in future updates or DLC packs.
Given Civilization VI's extensive DLC history, the chances of Gandhi appearing in Civilization VII are high. However, a concrete release date or timeframe for his return remains unannounced.
