In the expansive world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the Blackroot herb stands out as a crucial component, particularly for the Meister's Ritual during the fourth act, guided by Meister Siva. To access the Hall of Echoes and gain the Night Vision skill, you must craft a Ritual Bowl using a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and the essential Blackroot.

The first ritual's ingredients are conveniently located in Siva's basement. However, subsequent rituals, which you can perform after earning each Source point, require you to source the ingredients yourself. While finding a ritual bowl and obsidian lancet is typically straightforward, locating Blackroot can be a daunting task. If you're struggling to find this elusive herb, this guide will steer you in the right direction.

Venture Into Cloisterwood

Cloisterwood, a lush and dense forest, lies in the northwestern part of Reaper's Coast, a brief journey north of Driftwood. Upon entering, utilize the left ALT key to reveal all possible pickups around you.

As you explore, you'll notice various herbs at the base of trees, including the much-needed Blackroots. While one Blackroot suffices for the ritual, it's wise to gather a few more as a precaution. Without delving into spoilers, remember that you can perform the ritual each time you earn a Source point.

Cloisterwood Exploration Tips

Cloisterwood is teeming with mysteries and valuable encounters. You'll find two NPCs, Hannag and Jahan, who can each grant you a Source point. Jahan also plays a significant role in Lohse's storyline. Hidden within some ruins, you'll encounter the undead trader, Eithne. By choosing the "Divine Order" option in your conversation with her, you can unlock a side quest.

Further north, at the edge of Cloisterwood, a pier hosts the Dead Ferryman NPC, who can transport you to Bloodmoon Island. These are just a few of the intriguing characters you'll meet in Cloisterwood. The forest also conceals other secrets, such as the Wrecker's Cave and the possibility of acquiring a unique loremaster amulet by conversing with a ship captain's spirit. If you're exploring Cloisterwood for the first time, take the time to thoroughly investigate the area. It's recommended to avoid confronting the crucified witch Alice Alisceon until you reach at least level 15.
