A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series, Alien: Earth, has surfaced online, giving fans an in-depth look at what to expect from the upcoming show. The trailer, which was first showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, has now been shared on the @CineGeekNews X/Twitter account. It depicts the harrowing journey of survivors aboard a spaceship ravaged by a Xenomorph, now on a collision course with Earth.

The trailer reveals a striking new design for the Xenomorph and showcases an aesthetic that closely mirrors Ridley Scott's iconic 1979 horror film. A key scene is set in a MU/TH/UR control room, reminiscent of the Nostromo from the original movie, where a crew member desperately seeks help while the Xenomorph closes in. Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports that the "specimens are loose," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship's trajectory towards Earth. The trailer then shifts to show six soldiers approaching what appears to be the crashed ship, hinting at impending doom.

The trailer raises several intriguing questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Are there any other survivors? Has anyone been impregnated by the Xenomorph? And how will the soldiers meet their fate?

Alien: Earth sets the stage for a gripping narrative where a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth. Sydney Chandler stars as a young woman who, alongside a group of tactical soldiers, uncovers a perilous secret that pits them against one of the planet's deadliest threats.

Set in the year 2120, the series takes place after the events of Prometheus and just before those of the original Alien. This timeline has led fans to speculate that Alien: Earth might explore the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how Weyland-Yutani first learned about the Xenomorphs. For context, the recently released Alien: Romulus is an interquel set between Alien and Aliens.

In a January 2024 interview, showrunner Noah Hawley explained his decision to diverge from the backstory established in Prometheus. Hawley, who consulted with Ridley Scott on various aspects of the Alien series, opted for the "retro-futurism" of the original films over the bioweapon narrative introduced in the prequels.

Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025, with Alien: Romulus 2 also in development.
