PHASE 10 RULES:

A phase is a combination of cards. Phases are typically composed of sets (multiple cards with the same value), runs (various cards in consecutive ascending order), or a mix of these elements. As the name implies, there are ten distinct phases:

The dealer shuffles the deck and deals 10 cards face down to each player, one at a time. Players hold their 10 cards so that opponents cannot see them.

Completing Phases

▪️ Phases must be completed in sequential order, from Phase 1 through 10.

▪️ A player must have the entire required set for a phase before laying it down on the table.

▪️ Players may lay down more cards than the minimum requirement, provided the extra cards can directly extend or complement the existing phase structure.

▪️ Only one phase can be completed per hand.

▪️ If a player successfully completes a phase, they attempt to form the next phase in their subsequent turn. If they fail, they must retry forming the same phase in the following round.

▪️ Players earn credit for completing a phase as soon as it is laid down. Winning the individual hand is not required to receive this credit. Often, multiple players will complete their phases during the same hand.

Additionally, if a player has all the cards needed for a phase in their hand, they are not obligated to lay them down immediately. The player must still discard one card at the end of their turn.

Going Out and Ending the Round:

Once you have completed and laid down your phase, you must play out the remaining cards in your hand until you can go out.

Remember: You must ALWAYS draw one card at the start of your turn and discard one card at the end of your turn.

Scoring a Round:

The round concludes when one player has played their phase and discarded their final card from their hand.

Players then tally the total value of cards remaining in their hands (fewer cards mean a better score) using the following point system:

▪️ Five points (5) for each card valued 1-9

▪️ Ten points (10) for each card valued 10-J-Q-K

▪️ Fifteen points (15) for each Skip card

▪️ Twenty-five points (25) for each Wild card

Remember, your goal is to achieve the LOWEST total score by the end of all phases.

Finishing the Game:

If only one player attempts Phase 10 and completes it during their turn, they become the winner immediately, ending the game. If two or more players complete a phase on the same hand, the player who completed Phase 10 with the lowest total points wins. In the event of a tie for first place in Phase 10, those tied players replay Phase 10; the first to complete their phase and discard all cards is declared the winner.
