World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm Event Faces Unexpected Delays

The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While initially slated for January 14th, 2025, Blizzard has not yet provided a revised launch time.

Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, resulting in a delay beyond the initially extended eight-hour downtime.

Plunderstorm Launch Window:

  • Before the end of January 14th, 2025, pending resolution of unforeseen issues.

While players await Plunderstorm's return, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.

The second iteration of Plunderstorm was to include new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the current delays.

Despite the event's postponement, the associated Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are active. Viewers can earn the Coward’s Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch streamer before February 4th at 10 AM PST. This reward can be earned regardless of whether the streamer is playing Plunderstorm.
