World of Warcraft China is introducing two new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts are re-imagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, previously only obtainable through extremely difficult raid encounters. While currently exclusive to China, these mounts mark another exciting development following the re-establishment of the NetEase and Blizzard partnership. This partnership brought World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to the Chinese market last year, celebrated with events including a Lighforged Gorehowl statue and the introduction of the teleporting Xiao Liu pet.
This latest promotion features re-colored and redesigned versions of the classic mounts. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, based on the Pureblood Fire Hawk from WoW: Cataclysm's Firelands raid, showcases auspicious clouds (xiangyun) within its wings while in flight. These clouds, symbols of peace, immortality, and good fortune, hold deep cultural significance in China. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a gilded variation of the Ashes of Al'ar (a drop from Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade's The Eye raid), boasts a stylish black saddle and evocative flavor text referencing Kael'thas' iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is obtainable through an event called the Treasure Workshop, details of which are still limited. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, however, is available through Landro's Loot Box, costing ¥200 (approximately $27 USD). This loot box offers a chance to win one of eight items, including prestigious prizes like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the extremely rare Swift Spectral Tiger (from WoW's discontinued TCG). Team purchases offer bonus crates based on spending milestones.
Currently, there's no indication whether these mounts will be released internationally. For now, players outside China will have to admire these magnificent mounts from afar.
