IGN Fan Fest 2025 delivered an exclusive premiere date for The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2: May 4, 2025. The announcement included an exclusive clip and interviews with Scott Gimple (Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan).

Cohan offered insight into Maggie's emotional state entering Season 2, hinting at relatable family tensions amidst the apocalyptic backdrop: "Sadly, not everything is rosy," she explained, citing the challenges of raising a teenage son and caring for Ginny, a teenage girl, within the harsh realities of their world. "Relatable domestic dynamics" will play a significant role, adding another layer of complexity to their survival struggles.

Morgan discussed Negan's precarious position, now under the control of The Dama and The Croat: "He's in a place he's not enjoying," Morgan revealed. While Negan will inevitably scheme his way out, his initial struggles will be a key element of the season. He also reflected on his iconic weapon, Lucille: "I love that thing!
