Take-Two Boasts Record Sales for 'GTA 5' and 'Red Dead Redemption 2'

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) continues to defy expectations, selling an impressive 5 million copies in the last three months alone, a remarkable feat for a game released over a decade ago (September 2013). Its enduring popularity solidifies its position as one of history's best-selling video games.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), released in October 2018, also shows sustained strength, adding 3 million copies to its already substantial 70 million sales in the recent quarter.
The enduring success of GTA V is significantly boosted by GTA Online, its consistently updated multiplayer component. Take-Two Interactive's commitment to ongoing content, such as the December 2024 Agents of Sabotage update, keeps players actively engaged.
Looking ahead, Take-Two has confirmed a fall 2025 release for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Further bolstering their upcoming releases, Mafia: The Old Country is slated for a summer launch, and Borderlands 4 is expected later in the year.
While concerns regarding potential delays for Grand Theft Auto VI are understandable, Take-Two's recent financial report reiterated the autumn release window. Similarly, Borderlands 4's release this year has been confirmed, although specific dates remain unannounced.
Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, acknowledged Rockstar's meticulous development approach, suggesting that additional time may be needed, mirroring the development cycles of previous titles like GTA V and RDR2. This statement, however, doesn't negate the fall release target for GTA VI.
