Smite 2 Free-to-Play Launch Date Announced Alongside New Character

Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: January 14th, 2025

Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14th, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered alpha in 2024.

This open beta will introduce players to a revamped Smite experience, featuring a significantly expanded roster of Gods. While the alpha launched with 14 Gods, the open beta will boast nearly 50, including the debut of Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon. Aladdin, a Magical Assassin and Jungler, brings unique abilities like wall-running and enemy trapping. Returning favorites from the original Smite, such as Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, will also be present, though with updated skill sets.

Beyond new Gods, the open beta will introduce exciting new game modes. Joust, a 3v3 mode set in an Arthurian-themed arena with teleporters and stealth grass, and Duel, a 1v1 mode using the same map, will provide fresh strategic challenges. The innovative Aspects system will add another layer of depth, allowing players to sacrifice certain God abilities for powerful boons. Twenty Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.

Quality-of-life improvements are also a key focus. Expect enhanced features like Role Guides for newcomers, improved in-game communication (including PC text chat), refined item stores, detailed death recaps, and more.

The open beta launch coincides with the addition of several popular Gods from the original Smite. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The first Smite 2 esports tournament will conclude at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17th-19th, further highlighting the game's competitive potential.
