Rumor: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Canceled

The highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, first teased in September 2021, has been shrouded in mystery ever since. Recent reports suggest the project may face a disappointing fate, rather than the long-awaited release fans have been hoping for. This comes from Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and a creator of the Syphon Filter series.

Smith, via his X account, alleges that development on the SW: KotOR Remake has completely ceased, contradicting Saber Interactive's 2024 statement that development was ongoing. He claims some team members have been reassigned, while others have been laid off. Should this prove accurate, it would undoubtedly devastate fans eagerly awaiting this iconic RPG's remake.

It's important to note Smith's history of both accurate and inaccurate predictions. He correctly foreshadowed a Housemarque game announcement, but his predictions regarding Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima release dates were incorrect. Therefore, his claims should be approached with cautious optimism.

As of yet, Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not officially addressed these claims, leaving the future of the SW: KotOR Remake uncertain and fans anxiously awaiting clarification.
