Rocksteady begins search for Game Director for its next Batman game
Rocksteady Studios is seeking a Game Director for its next major project, as announced in a February 17th job posting by Warner Bros. Discovery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting a high-quality game design, encompassing core gameplay, player progression, combat systems, and mission structure. Experience in third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee combat is highly desirable. This job description has fueled speculation of a return to the Batman universe, the franchise that catapulted Rocksteady to fame. The requirements strongly align with the studio's acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, unlike the more gun-focused Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
As the hiring process is in its early stages, the game is likely still in the conceptual phase. Industry analyst Jason Schreier suggests that a new single-player Batman title, should it materialize, is several years away.

Rocksteady's latest release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, launched February 2nd, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). The game received a mixed reception, scoring 63/100 on Metacritic (critics) and 4.2/10 (users).
Previous reports hinted at a potential Rocksteady return to the Batman franchise, possibly inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
