PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five extra days for free

Sony addressed the near-day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an unspecified "operational issue" in a social media statement. The company offered no further explanation of the root cause or preventative measures.
To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony will automatically add five extra days to their subscriptions.
Gamers experienced widespread disruptions throughout the outage, with over one-third unable to log in and others reporting server crashes.
The outage has reignited concerns among players who oppose Sony's requirement of a PSN account, even for single-player PC games. This policy's necessity is further questioned by such extensive downtime.
While less severe than the April 2011 data breach that caused over 20 days of connectivity problems, this latest incident has left PS5 users dissatisfied with Sony's limited communication regarding the issue.
