Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!

Get ready for a blast from the past! Nintendo has just revealed its latest collaboration with LEGO: a buildable LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release.

While exciting for LEGO and Nintendo enthusiasts, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a flurry of speculation about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Many users playfully interpreted the news as a delayed Switch 2 reveal, with comments like, "Thanks for finally revealing the new console," and "At this rate, a LEGO Switch 2 will be out before the actual console!"

While details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa's May 7, 2024 statement promised an announcement regarding the Switch successor before the end of their fiscal year (March). Patience is key!

Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy is yet to be revealed, but Nintendo promises more information in the coming weeks and months.

Past Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations

Beyond the NES, Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up to bring iconic characters from beloved franchises to life in brick form. Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda have all been featured in previous LEGO releases.

Last May 2024 saw the release of a 2,500-piece LEGO set recreating the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, complete with Princess Zelda and the Master Sword. This impressive set retails at $299.99 USD.

Following closely, a Super Mario World LEGO set featuring Mario riding Yoshi (with a crank-operated moving leg!) was released two months later for $129.99 USD.
