Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Adds Four Classic GamesBattletoads/Double Dragon, Big Run, and More!
Get ready for a blast from the past! Nintendo has announced a quartet SNES titles from the early '90s that will be joining the Nintendo Switch Online library. These exciting additions bring beat-em-up action, high-octain racing, mind-bending puzzles, and a dodgeball competition to the ever-expanding library of classic games available to subscribers.
First up, we have the legendary beat-em-up duo, Battletoads and Double Dragon. This team-up game sees the brawling Battletoads and the martial arts masters, the Double Dragon brothers, joining fources to take down the evil Dark Queen and the Shadow Warriors. The game features a roster of five playable characters, including the martial arts duo Billy and Jimmy Lee from Double Dragon and the amphibian trio Zitz, Pimple, and Rash from Battletoads.
Battletoads/Double Dragon was originally released for the NES in June of 1993 before being ported to the Super NES in December of the same year. its appearance in the Nintendo Switch Online library will be the its first re-release after decades.
The game was originally released for the Super Famicom on August 1993.
For those who enjoy puzzles, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle will engage your strategic thinking. Similar to Tetris and Puyo Puyo, you'll aim to clear lines of containers and Cosmos to accumulate points. The game provides three modes:
⚫︎ 1P Mode, where you'll compete against yourself to achieve the highest score.
⚫︎ VS Mode, where you'll battle against friends in head-to-head matches.
⚫︎ 100 Stage Mode, where you'll tackle increasingly challenging puzzles to test your skills.
To clear lines, align the containers horizontally. Furthermore, watch for the blue orbs that descend from the top; you'll require them to eliminate Cosmos.
Originally released for arcades in 1992, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle made its way to the Super Famicom a year later. The game has since been re-released on various platforms, including the Wii and Wii U Virtual Console, and most recently, the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 through the Arcade Archive series.
Big Run was initially released for the Super Famicom in the early nineties.
