NieR: Automata - Beast Hide Locations Guide
NieR: Automata offers a wide array of weapons, allowing players to experiment with different weapon types across multiple playthroughs. Each weapon boasts multiple upgrade levels, extending their usefulness and enabling players to utilize their favorites throughout the game.
Weapon upgrades are performed at the Resistance Camp, requiring specific resources. One crucial material, Beast Hides, isn't readily available; acquiring them efficiently requires a strategic approach.
Obtaining Beast Hides in NieR: Automata
Beast Hides are obtained by defeating wildlife, such as moose and boar. These creatures randomly appear in designated map areas, generally avoiding players and robots. Their white icons on the mini-map distinguish them from the black icons of machines. Farming wildlife is less straightforward than farming machines due to their less frequent spawns; knowing their locations is key.
Moose and boar are exclusively found in the game's ruined city and forest zones. Their reaction to player attacks depends on the level difference: lower-level animals flee, while those of comparable or higher levels may attack or become aggressive if approached closely. Wildlife possesses substantial health, making early-game encounters challenging, especially against higher-level creatures.
Using Animal Bait can lure wildlife closer, simplifying the hunting process.
Because wildlife doesn't respawn continuously during the main storyline, players must hunt them while exploring and then seek out new ones. Wildlife and machine respawns share similar conditions:
- Fast traveling resets all enemies and wildlife.
- Traveling a sufficient distance away respawns enemies and wildlife in previously visited zones.
- Progressing through story events can trigger the respawn of nearby enemies and wildlife.
Efficient Beast Hide farming isn't easily achieved. Simply eliminating all encountered wildlife while traversing the forests and city ruins typically provides sufficient hides. Their relatively high drop rate ensures players rarely need excessive quantities, especially if avoiding simultaneous upgrades of more weapons than they can equip.
