Myst-Like Lovecraftian Point-And-Click Puzzle My Father Lied Is Coming to Android This Year
In a world saturated with games, finding a truly unique title is a challenge. My Father Lied, however, stands out with its compelling narrative. This mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure boasts a story that's as captivating as its origins are intriguing.
My Father Lied: An Indie Developer's Vision
The game's creation story is fascinating. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, wasn't initially aiming for game development. In 2020, he was a writer and filmmaker. A collaborative game idea with a college friend fizzled, leaving the project unfinished. But Alameen couldn't let go of the story. He independently learned 3D modeling and Unreal Engine, realizing his vision solo. Even the game's title was a collaborative effort with his wife.
Unraveling the Mystery: The Game's Narrative
The game itself plunges players into a mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian mythology, brimming with secrets, puzzles, and unexpected twists. Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: what happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, proves far from straightforward.
My Father Lied masterfully blends ancient Mesopotamian lore with modern storytelling. The gameplay features simple point-and-click mechanics, avoiding complex controls, and showcases beautiful 2D visuals and 360-degree imagery.
