Marvel Map Easter Egg Hints at Next Cinematic Hero

Marvel Rivals: Wong's Potential Arrival Sparks Fan Speculation

A recently released trailer for Marvel Rivals' new Sanctum Sanctorum map has ignited speculation among players about the potential addition of Wong to the game's roster. A brief glimpse of a painting depicting Doctor Strange's mystical ally, Wong, has been interpreted as an Easter egg hinting at his future inclusion.

The game, a multiplayer hero shooter akin to Overwatch, has already garnered significant success, boasting over 10 million players within its first 72 hours. Season 1, titled "Eternal Night," launches January 10th and features Dracula as the main antagonist, alongside the Fantastic Four (including their villainous counterparts, the Maker and Malice as alternate skins).

Reddit user fugo_hate, on r/marvelrivals, first highlighted the Wong painting in the Sanctum Sanctorum trailer. This discovery has fueled discussions about Wong's potential gameplay abilities, given his mastery of mystical arts.

Wong's Growing Popularity and Gaming History:

Wong's popularity has skyrocketed in recent years, largely due to Benedict Wong's memorable portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While previously featured as a non-playable character in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (2006), he has since become a playable character in mobile titles like Marvel Contest of Champions and Marvel Snap, as well as LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.

However, the painting in the Sanctum Sanctorum map, rich with supernatural Marvel references, could simply be a tribute to Doctor Strange's ally. Regardless, the inclusion of the painting has certainly piqued player interest.

Season 1's launch this week brings three new locations, a new "Doom Match" mode, and the playable additions of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman. The mystery of Wong's potential inclusion, however, remains a captivating topic for Marvel Rivals fans.
