Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence for the Classic Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has exceeded expectations, recently surpassing 200,000 units sold. Despite initial technical hiccups and some controversy, the game's sales figures demonstrate significant player demand. This success story highlights the enduring appeal of the original action title.

Developed initially by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw is a distinctive hack-and-slash game. Players take on the role of Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling zombies. While the original developers didn't helm the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with improved gameplay mechanics.

Now, months after its September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone via a recent tweet.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Lollipop Chainsaw casts players as Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is overrun. Players engage in intense hack-and-slash combat, utilizing Juliet's chainsaw against hordes of zombies and formidable bosses, reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over one million copies. A key factor in its popularity was the unique collaboration between renowned game designer Goichi Suda and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who contributed to the game's narrative.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unannounced, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's strong sales are encouraging for remasters of cult classic games. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title, on modern platforms.
