Hyper Light Breaker: How to Unlock All Characters
Quick Links
Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of playable characters, each with unique fighting styles, adding depth and replayability. These Breakers are your key to defeating the Abyss King. Unlocking new characters is relatively straightforward, though the game doesn't explicitly explain the process. This guide covers all current characters and how to obtain them. Note that this guide reflects the early access version, and the unlock method may change with future updates.
How to Get New Characters in Hyper Light Breaker
To unlock new Breakers, you'll need Abyss Stones, which drop exclusively from Crowns (bosses). Before facing Crowns, you must acquire Prisms—keys to the boss arenas—indicated by golden diamond icons on the map.
After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter. Select the Breaker you wish to unlock and spend your Abyss Stones to add them to your roster. While nine characters exist, currently only two are unlockable via Abyss Stones. The unlock method for remaining characters is yet to be confirmed.
All Characters in Hyper Light Breaker
Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, a key item defining their base stats and primary perk, shaping their combat style. Here's a breakdown of each character and their unique approaches:
Vermillion
Vermillion, your starting character, begins with the Gunslinger SyCom, favoring ranged combat. Critical hits with Rail shots guarantee a subsequent critical hit. Alternatively, unlock the Tank SyCom for melee combat, rewarding perfect parries with increased armor and offering superior defensive stats.
Lapis
Lapis also starts with a Rail-focused SyCom, Lightweaver, boosting Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery. However, her unlockable Warrior SyCom increases core stats with each upgrade, making her a potentially devastating late-game Breaker.
Goro
Goro is another ranged character, his Astrologer SyCom accelerating Blade skill charge while firing. The unlockable Sniper SyCom significantly boosts his critical hit rate. Goro embodies a high-risk, high-reward playstyle, offering immense damage potential but lacking defensive options.
