Mastering the Double Outfit Trick in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, while focused on action, offers extensive weapon and outfit customization. This guide details how to combine the benefits of multiple outfits, a feature unavailable in the original game.

Remastered Version Required

The dual outfit effect relies on the Remastered edition's transmog feature, introduced via a recent patch. This allows you to retain the stats of one outfit while visually wearing another.

Outfit Requirements

This technique has limitations. While your primary outfit can be any you own, the second (for visual transmog) must be one of the following Banuk Werak outfits, obtained from the Frozen Wilds DLC:

  • Banuk Werak Runner
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game Plus only)

Note: Access to the Frozen Wilds DLC is not contingent on completing the main game.

Obtaining Banuk Werak Outfits

Banuk Werak Runner

After reaching the Frozen Wilds (by defeating the initial machine—consider lowering difficulty or upgrading gear if needed), locate a Bluegleam Merchant (blue merchant icon on the map) and purchase the Banuk Werak Runner outfit. Costs vary based on difficulty:

Resource Normal Cost Ultra Hard Cost
Metal Shards 1000 5000
Desert Glass 10 20
Slagshine Glass 10 20

Banuk Werak Chieftain & Chieftain Adept

The superior Banuk Werak Chieftain outfit requires completing the "For the Werak" quest (Frozen Wilds' third main quest). This quest can be challenging; consider lowering the difficulty if necessary. The Adept version is only available in New Game Plus.

Combining Outfit Effects

Here's how to achieve the dual outfit effect:

  1. Equip your desired outfit: This is your primary outfit, providing the stats you want (enhance stats with Weaves if needed).
  2. Use Transmog: Apply the visual appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits. These outfits themselves offer no additional stats but provide a crucial passive auto-heal after taking damage.

This method grants you the stats of your chosen outfit plus the auto-heal from the Banuk Werak outfit. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept offer significantly faster healing than the Runner. Combining this with an outfit like the Shield Weaver creates a nearly invincible character.
