Eye-Steered Driving Now in Early Access on Android

Open Drive, a groundbreaking racing game for mobile devices, is now available in early access on Android. This innovative title has been developed by SpecialEffect, a charity dedicated to helping physically disabled players enjoy video games, in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios. Open Drive is not just another game; it's a testament to inclusive gaming, designed to cater to a wide range of player needs.

What’s the Game About?

Open Drive is crafted to be adaptable, allowing players to choose their preferred input method—be it touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, or a controller. The game's core philosophy is inclusivity, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the thrill of driving.

One of the most exciting features is the mobile-specific eye control system. Players using eye gaze technology can steer their vehicles simply by looking left or right, thanks to a compatible eye gaze camera. This feature is a significant advancement in accessibility, particularly for those with physical challenges who may struggle with traditional touch or gamepad inputs. Eye control is available across all four distinct open worlds in the game: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

The gameplay is incredibly versatile, offering players the freedom to explore at their own pace, collecting orbs or chasing high scores with daring jumps. Whether you choose the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster, you can adjust the speed to suit your style. Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access

Open Drive's early access version on Android intelligently auto-detects and adapts to your chosen control method, including full support for Switch Access on Android. Each input method comes with its own tailored setup. For touch controls, you have 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes, allowing you to steer with taps or directional control.

Similar custom setups are available for Switch Access, mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads or controllers. While the eye control functionality is not fully implemented yet, it's set to be a part of the full version launching later this summer. You can dive into the early access experience right now on the Google Play Store.
