Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign's release, chickensandwich420 devised a unique challenge: defeating Messmer, a notoriously difficult boss from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, every day. The twist? He uses a different weapon each time, aims for a no-hit run, and tackles the challenge on NG+7.

His journey began on December 16, 2024. Initially planning to fight various FromSoftware bosses, he opted for the daily Messmer challenge due to his university studies. Messmer's reputation precedes him; players report needing 30 to 150 attempts to defeat him, even with top-tier gear.

A June Deadline: A Self-Imposed Limit

However, chickensandwich420 set a self-imposed deadline: June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, he'll switch to other games. This means potentially over 160 days of battling Messmer. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone three-player co-op spin-off set in the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is planned, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays.
