Elden Ring Nightreign: A Poisonous Swamp-Free Adventure?

From Software's upcoming cooperative title, Elden Ring Nightreign, will notably omit the signature poisonous swamps frequently featured in their games. This revelation comes directly from product manager Yasuhiro Kitao, who spoke with gaming journalists.

While a swamp-like area was shown in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The absence of the traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the lack of involvement from Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president, a known enthusiast of swamp environments in games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki did not participate in Nightreign's development.

A potential two-player mode remains under consideration. Currently, only single-player and three-player modes are confirmed, with the exclusion of a two-player option previously cited due to content balancing difficulties. From Software is actively evaluating the feasibility of adding a two-player option, but a final decision is pending.

Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, across PC and current and next-generation consoles.
