Druckmann: No Guarantees for The Last of Us Part 3

For those eagerly awaiting news of The Last of Us Part 3, series creator Neil Druckmann has delivered a disheartening update. In a recent interview with Variety, primarily focused on the TV series, Druckmann effectively dashed hopes of a third installment. When questioned about the possibility, he sighed and stated, “I was waiting for this question… I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

PlayWhile Druckmann's words are certainly discouraging, it's difficult to definitively interpret his intentions. Naughty Dog is currently engrossed in the development of *Intergalactic*, unveiled at The Game Awards 2022, a project likely years from release. This leaves little room for a simultaneous *Last of Us Part 3* development. His statement could be strategic ambiguity, a genuine reflection of current plans, or simply a definitive end to the video game storyline. Only time will tell.

However, for fans craving more Last of Us content, the HBO Max television series offers a compelling alternative. Season two premieres April 13th, and while the total number of seasons remains uncertain (Druckmann expressed unsureness), an HBO executive hinted at a four-season run earlier this year.
