Dragon Quest X is coming to mobile, but so far only in Japan

Longtime fans of the *Dragon Quest* series know its vast library of games and spin-offs. One often-overlooked entry, the MMORPG-style *Dragon Quest X*, is finally getting a mobile release—in Japan, at least. The recently released offline version arrives tomorrow on iOS and Android.

As reported by Gematsu, Japanese players can purchase *Dragon Quest X Offline*, a single-player version, for a premium price. Interestingly, a mobile port was initially planned by Ubitu way back in 2013!

Unlike other *Dragon Quest* titles, *X* features real-time combat and other MMORPG elements. The offline version, released in 2022 for consoles and PC, follows the original's 2012 debut.

Here be dragons

Unfortunately, a global release isn't currently confirmed. The original *Dragon Quest X* was Japan-exclusive, and while a mobile offline version would be fantastic, there's no news on international availability.

This is disappointing for fans like myself, who poured countless hours into *Dragon Quest: Sentinels of the Starry Skies*. The chance to experience even a different version of *Dragon Quest* on mobile would be a treat.
