Tentacle Tactics

Nu Udra presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Its extensive tentacles grant it impressive reach, making evasion crucial. However, these same limbs offer melee fighters the closest points of attack. Severing its arms yields valuable materials, but proceed with caution; these appendages pack a punch.

Target the Maw

Ranged weapon users have a variety of options, but the mouth remains the optimal target. Its near-total black coloration makes it initially difficult to spot, but its 4-star weakness makes it well worth the effort. The head is a viable alternative, boasting a 3-star weakness to ammo damage and remaining a strong target for blunt and cut damage.

Harness the Power of Watermoss

Nu Udra possesses a fire affinity in Monster Hunter Wilds, utilizing fiery attacks in addition to its physical assaults. At a certain point, it even ignites itself, creating a dangerous proximity due to the Fireblight debuff. Using Watermoss is highly recommended to mitigate this threat and safely maintain your offensive.

Embrace Fire Resistance

For those struggling, fire-resistant gear is essential. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is a strong recommendation. Elemental damage-reducing decorations, such as the Fire Res Jewel or the Stream Jewel (for increased Water Attack), provide additional protection and offensive boosts.

Evade the Grasp

While Nu Udra possesses numerous dangerous attacks, its grab attack is particularly threatening. If caught too close, it will ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. During the brief pause after the grab, use a knife to break free, or exploit its weak point with a Slinger.

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster to near-death; look for the skull icon next to its health bar. Luring it with meat or strategically positioning yourself behind the trap while it targets you are effective methods. Once trapped, immediately use a Tranquilizer; you have approximately five seconds before it breaks free.

This comprehensive guide covers defeating and capturing Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds. This challenging hunt is significantly easier with the assistance of multiplayer; don't hesitate to enlist allies.
