What Class Should You Choose in Citizen Sleeper 2?
At the start of Citizen Sleeper 2, you'll choose from three classes: Operator, Machinist, and Extractor. This guide helps you decide which best suits your playstyle.
Which Citizen Sleeper 2 Class Should You Choose?
The optimal class depends on your preferred playstyle. Based on a completed playthrough, here's an evaluation of each, considering abilities and roleplaying potential.
Operator

The Operator begins with a +1 in Interface, base levels in Intuit and Engage, and no Engineer. Endure cannot be leveled up. Their ability trades Stress for a re-roll of their lowest die.
While powerful with upgraded abilities, the Operator presents a tougher early game. Interface is a valuable skill, but the re-roll ability isn't always beneficial. Roleplaying-wise, the Operator is versatile, adaptable to various character concepts.
Machinist

The Machinist starts with a +1 in Engineer, base levels in Interface and Intuit, and no Endure. Engage cannot be leveled up. Their ability uses Stress to add +2 to their lowest die, also losing 2 Stress on a positive outcome. Later, they can further boost their die and reduce Stress.
My personal favorite, the Machinist proved highly effective. The ability is invaluable for overcoming challenges. Many checks require Engineer and Interface, skills often lacking in crew members. The Stress reduction is a significant advantage, given Stress management's difficulty. Roleplaying-wise, this class suits players interested in the game's technical and mechanical aspects.
Extractor

The Extractor begins with a +1 in Endure, base levels in Engineer and Engage, and no Interface. Intuit cannot be leveled up. Their ability trades Stress to add +2 to the lowest die of their crew; this ability upgrades to further boost crew member rolls.
The Extractor's ability is highly useful for mitigating Contract risks. The game heavily features Endure checks, making the starting bonus advantageous. However, I often found myself with crew members already skilled in Endure and Engage. Roleplaying-wise, this class fits players who prefer a more rugged, combative approach.
This concludes our guide to choosing a class in Citizen Sleeper 2.
