Assassin's Creed Shadows Faces Another Delay, Now Targeting March 20, 2025

Ubisoft has announced a further delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing its release date from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025. This marks the second postponement for the title, initially slated for a November 2024 launch.

The publisher cites the need to integrate player feedback as the primary reason for this latest delay. This contrasts with the first delay, attributed to internal development challenges concerning historical accuracy. Ubisoft's Vice President and Executive Producer, Marc-Alexis Coté, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a polished and immersive experience, facilitated by ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, however, share the common goal of providing additional time for refinement and polishing.

The September 2024 delay resulted in pre-order refunds and the offer of free access to the game's first expansion. While Ubisoft hasn't yet detailed similar compensation for this latest shift, the shorter delay may mitigate potential player frustration.

This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's ongoing internal investigation into its development practices, launched amidst disappointing sales figures and record losses in the 2023 fiscal year. The investigation aims to create a more "player-centric" approach to game development, and incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this objective. The delay, therefore, suggests a commitment to prioritizing player input and delivering a superior final product.
