Alan Wake 2 Universe Expands: Control 2 in Production
Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Games
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on several anticipated titles, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor. These updates, featured in their latest financial report, offer insights into each project's development stage and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Reaches Production Readiness
Control 2, the sequel to the 2019 hit, has reached a key milestone: production readiness. This signifies a fully playable version of the game, allowing the team to focus on scaling up production, including extensive testing and performance optimization to ensure quality standards are met. Simultaneously, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, a multiplayer game set within the Control universe, is now in full production. Development includes the creation of multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and refine gameplay. This marks Remedy's entry into live-service games, with a unique "service-based fixed price" release model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Updates
Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion has received positive press and player feedback. The game has reportedly recouped most of its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition launches October 22nd, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders are live on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is currently refining a complete playable version, concentrating on unique gameplay elements to differentiate the remake.
Remedy's Future with Control and Alan Wake
Remedy emphasizes the importance of the Control and Alan Wake franchises, having recently acquired full rights to the Control IP from 505 Games. This gives them complete control over future development, publishing, and all related aspects. The company is evaluating self-publishing options and potential partnerships for these franchises, with further announcements expected by year's end. Remedy highlighted its vision to grow these interconnected franchises within the Remedy Connected Universe, alongside their work on the Max Payne franchise. Further updates on these projects are anticipated throughout the year.
