Mahjong School: Master Japanese Riichi Mahjong

Mahjong School is your destination for learning to play Mahjong. We focus on teaching Japanese-style Mahjong, which is nearly identical to the European (Riichi) and US styles. While it differs somewhat from Chinese, Hong Kong, or Taiwanese styles, mastering the Japanese style makes it easy to transition to others.

Mahjong School offers three methods to help you learn Japanese Mahjong.

1. The Mahjong Calculator.

Click to add tiles to your hand or declare TING, CHOW, PON, or CHI to form a winning hand. You can set various conditions like DORA and self-draw. Once set, the calculator will compute the hand's Fu and points, providing detailed descriptions including hand names.

2. The Simple Tutorial.

This tutorial lists every Yaku (Han) with an example hand and a clear description.

3. A Practice Mode.

Play Mahjong directly against AI. The AI is beginner-friendly, perfect for learners. Practice is the best way to master Mahjong.
