Metaphor Eyes: ReFantazio

Hashino, when discussing the studio's future, expressed a desire to create a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game, potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding the possibility of Metaphor: ReFantazio becoming a franchise, Hashino confirmed there are no current plans for a sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, a title initially conceived as the third major JRPG series following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become Atlus' flagship title.

While a direct sequel is unlikely, Hashino did mention the team is already working on their next project. Interestingly, an anime adaptation is also under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has proven remarkably successful for Atlus, boasting the company's best-ever platform launch.

The game's peak concurrent player count reached an impressive 85,961, surpassing both Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
